After the announcement at the 86th edition of Pitti Uomo in June 2014, The Woolmark Company is proud to present the images of the new Merino Wool. No Finer FeelingTM global fibre advocacy campaign with the global football superstar and world champion Alessandro Del Piero as ambassador for Merino wool.

ALESSANDRO DEL PIEROThe campaign had been shot in July by the world-renowned Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani who captured the energy and the talent of Alessandro Del Piero in a unique and active way.

In the images Alessandro wears a relaxed wool suit by TechMerino Z Zegna and kicks a wool ball made by Zegna Baruffa yarn.

The slogan used in the campaign "Natural Talent" perfectly embodies both the talent of Alessandro and the natural qualities of Merino wool that allows feeling comfortable whatever you are doing. The great return of wool in active sport is the proof of this.

Launched into Autumn/Winter media in print, iPad/tablet and online, from November 2014 the campaign will be in some of the most important magazines worldwide. Furthermore a mini reportage film of the backstage of the shoot will be on the screens of some of the most important international airlines. In the campaign, Del Piero expresses his personal vision on Merino wool, "When I wear Merino wool I feel comfortable, I feel right with myself, because I can do everything, I can go everywhere, it's great and I love it."

"As the global authority on wool, The Woolmark Company collaborates with some of the leading names in the global fashion and media industry to position Merino wool as a natural, luxury fibre. The Woolmark Company has chosen Alessandro Del Piero, one of the highest-level athletes, for a global collaboration to highlight the versatility of Merino wool and affirm its position in the sportswear industry as a high-performance fibre.

"Launched in December 2010 with Alessandro Benetton and Margherita Missoni, the Merino Wool. No Finer FeelingTM campaign is showing a new, younger generation of discerning consumers that Merino wool can deliver a better experience than any other fibre, in terms of natural performance, breathability and comfort. It establishes Merino as the fibre of choice for fine, contemporary fashion, and creates an expectation of the luxurious tactile experience of wearing Merino wool, sourced in Australia from the world-famous Merino sheep breed," says Fabrizio Servente, The Woolmark Company's Global Strategy Advisor.

"Australia has been producing most of the world's finest Merino wool for more than 200 years. The Woolmark Company, owned by Australia's 25,000 woolgrowers, and owners of the Woolmark symbol, one of the world's most recognised quality fibre brands, educates consumers about the versatility of Merino wool and its use in fine fashion, high-tech sports and casual wear. Natural talent always shines through and Alessandro Del Piero's natural talent and familiarity with Australia will help us bridge the gap in consumers' knowledge and demonstrate what happens when the world's best natural talent meets the world's finest natural fibre," says Rob Langtry, The Woolmark Company's Global Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer.
