Presenting Wool 101 - the natural fibre's processing and innovation in areas from fashion to activewear - The Woolmark Company offered insight into wool’s role in the textile industry, the structure of the fibre and its natural benefits.

Identifying a gap in students’ knowledge of textiles within the fashion industry, Talking Textiles is aligned to the needs of industry professionals and educators and also caters for students to foster the knowledge and education of the younger generation. It aims to bring attention to the plight of the textile industry and educate professionals and consumers alike about the importance of fabric design today.

The Woolmark Company Key Account Manager for the Americas, Angela Domsitz - who spoke at the event - said Talking Textiles was a great opportunity to spread wool’s message and showcase the properties of the fibre.

“The feedback was very positive. People seemed happy that the presentation talked about the science of the fibre and how it is so unique,” said Ms Domsitz. “We also received requested from university and design school professors to speak to their respective class groups.”
