Weekly Wool Prices

Week ending 29 April (Week 44)

29 April 2016

Australian wool auction markets strengthened considerably this week, with the favourable AUD versus USD rate helping most wool categories into positive territory. The major market mover was Merino fleece of all descriptions, which appreciated by a general 45ac/clean kg , more than making up the lost ground of the previous sale week. All other wool types and descriptions traded around the ruling levels, give or take a few cents. The EMI (Eastern Market Indicator) regained the 24ac/ clean kg eliminated last week to close this week 2% higher at 1241ac/clean kg. This level is around 70ac higher than at the same period of last season.
