Weekly Wool Prices

Week Ending May 23 (week 47)

23 May 2014

A remarkable transformation to Australian wool markets this week, with all categories on offer suddenly under extreme buying pressure from the exporters. In a very small offering of just over 30,000 bales, prices surged from the commencement of selling across all descriptions, and by weeks end, general gains between 10 and 40ac clean/kg were registered. The major beneficiary of the positivity was the Merino sector between 18 and 23 micron which appreciated by as much as 40ac clean/kg for the series.
