FACETASM showcases wool-rich SS19 collection in Paris

At Paris Men’s Fashion Week, FACETASM unveiled a collection inspired by the feeling of ‘TOGETHER’ - the title of the collection - marking the second stage of a two-season collaboration with The Woolmark Company.

Including 25 styles in wool for both men and women, FACETASM’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection combined multiple pieces in each garment, creating new forms, generating new value, forging new rules.

Known for design innovation, FACETASM designer Hiromichi Ochiai has harnessed the adaptability of Australian Merino wool again this season. A wool and nylon-blend checked fabric is a key textile in this collection, as is a wool mesh; both of which were developed by the designer with the support of The Woolmark Company.

“The Woolmark Company introduced me to fabric makers we never had access to before. We had the opportunity to re-work a fabric from the 1950s, adding a rainbow line into the textile, making it unique,” said Ochiai after the show.

“I appreciate The Woolmark Company for connecting us to the wonderful manufacturers who made our emotions visible through fabric.”

Deeply rooted in Tokyo’s street culture, the unique work of Mr Ochiai quickly garnered global praise when the brand launched in 2007. Indeed, wool has been an integral part of FACETASM collections since the outset, highlighting the versatility of the fibre and its position as the premier ingredient in conceptual luxury apparel.

FACETASM’s partnership with The Woolmark Company was first brought to life for the label’s AW18 collection, inspired by Mr Ochiai’s journey to Australia to visit the source of Merino wool.
