Formal Friday creates the only T-shirt you’ll ever need

The hunt for the perfect T-shirt is over, with Finnish label Formal Friday developing what is called the perfect wool T-shirt.

Having spent years redefining its core product, the menswear brand has decided to focus on producing the ultimate T-shirt, crafted from 100% Australian Merino wool to see wearers through summer, autumn, winter and spring.

For Formal Friday designer Teemu Muurimäki, a perfect T-shirt should encapsulate three things: user experience, aesthetics, and environmental impact.

“Our T-shirt is crafted from 100% certified Australian Merino wool, which as a material is extremely breathable, comfortable, and easy to care for,” says Muurimäki, whose design history spans Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, and Bottega Veneta.

"What we are most proud of is the minimal environmental impact that our garment has - whereas many garment factories pollute nature with toxic waste water, our supply chain has such a clean manufacturing process, that they even breed fish in the waste water pools.”

100% natural, renewable and biodegradable, Australian Merino wool is loved by designers worldwide and is the responsible choice for today’s conscious consumers. Boasting superb breathability, next-to-skin softness, strength and resistance to odour, Australian Merino wool's versatility extends from luxury fashion to high-performance activewear."With the help of an Italian sub-contractor’s new technology and technical support from The Woolmark Company, we’ve been able to create a very dense and durable fabric rarely seen in ultrafine 17.5 micron wool products."

Despite traditionally being a menswear brand, Formal Friday also has a strong following of female customers, resulting in smaller sizes being created, from XXS to XXL.

Available in 9 colours including black, navy and steel through lime, army green and orange, this machine washable Merino wool T-shirt is available at Formal Friday and selected retailers.
