COMME MOI returns to wool

Lu Yan is the designer behind Chinese brand, COMME MOI, who for the second time is collaborating with The Woolmark Company, and leading the way for the increasing presence of Chinese designers on the fashion scene.

During a special presentation outside of the fashion week cycle, COMME MOI recently showed its Fall/Winter 2017 “Cool Wool” collection in Beijing, before an audience of buyers, press, celebrities and notable public figures. This range follows the brand’s collaboration with The Woolmark Company on a wool-rich capsule collection last year.

In seeing how wool lends itself to both tailoring and drape, this season Yan merged these two fundamental techniques in single garments, including an asymmetrical top and a standout trouser with a soft ruffle extending the length of the leg. Sure to appeal amongst the brand’s extensive following of professional women, these pieces are sophisticated yet simple to wear.

Founded in 2013, COMME MOI is a womenswear brand that focuses on refined separates and classic styles. Lu Yan is known as one of the first internationally successful Chinese models, and after retiring from the industry to focus on her family, decided to return to develop her own brand.

COMME MOI has never compromised on quality textiles, and the designer recognises wool as a heritage fibre with undeniable relevance to contemporary life. Merino wool and specifically Cool Wool – a fabric with a maximum weight of 190 g/m2 made from wool fibres that at their largest diameters are on average 22.5 microns (around three times finer than human hair) – is soft, light and crease-resistant, making it a superior fabric for women who want their clothing to work as hard as they do.
