Koché returns to Merino wool for Spring/Summer 2019

The Woolmark Company and French fashion label KOCHÉ continue their collaboration this spring, unveiling the partnership’s third instalment at Paris Fashion Week.

Merino wool fabrics return as this season’s hero, with designer Christelle Kocher highlighting the lightweight, trans-seasonal properties of the fibre, championing wool’s versatility for the warmer months. Titled ‘United Hearts’, eight SS19 pieces are made from Merino wool and have gained the iconic Woolmark certification.

Working with traditional craftsmen for key knitwear pieces, with a particular technique of hook, the wool fabric produced by Nakaden shows a square pattern with very lively colours. On this Japanese classic fabric, Christelle Kocher used a flocking technique usually reserved for the sports jersey in technical material. To obtain a high-quality flocking and these very lively colours with the wool represents a real challenge which only the most specialised workshops can raise.

“Thanks to the support of The Woolmark Company, I was lucky enough to be able to meet a few months ago partners in the Japanese region of Bishu, which is famous for the wool manufacturing,” said Kocher. “This trip was very inspiring for me and it was the opportunity to collaborate with high-quality partners such as Nakaden. This season, I wanted to work this exceptional material in a female/male spirit. The collection also proposes hand-made wool sweaters.”

With more than 60 global stockists, KOCHÉ stands at the crossover of high fashion, street culture and contemporary art. Its intense and distinct attitude offers a very casual, yet highly luxurious approach. Modern, elegant and refined, KOCHÉ proposes an intriguing new angle to fashion.
