ADVANCED KNITTING TECHNOLOGY

CIRCULAR KNIT TECHNOLOGY

Circular knitting machines can produce fabrics at a high rate, across a variety of yarn types, creating single-layer and double-layer fabrics, panels and garments.

Cost-effective
Cost-effective

Fabric for cut-and sew-knitwear is usually knitted on circular machines, as this is the quickest and most cost-effective method of manufacturing for larger scale quantities.

From tights to stockings and socks on small diameter machines, to tubes of fabric for cut-and-sew products, circular knitting technology provides many construction possibilities.

Circular Knit Technology

How it works

There are two types of circular knitting machines: those where the yarn-fed carriage and cams revolve around the stationary circular needle bed, and those where the circular needle bed (called the cylinder) rotates past stationary yarn guides and cams.

In addition to these two variations, circular machines can also be configured as single-knit machines, which produce single-layer fabric, panels and garments, and double-knit machines, which can produce double-layer fabrics, panels and garments. Manufactured in a range of diameters, circular knit machines allow for the selection of suitable machinery for desired design outcomes.

From tights to stockings and socks on small diameter machines, through to tubes of fabric for cut-and-sew products, circular knitting technology provides many possibilities.

Seamless Merino wool garments can also be constructed using the latest circular knitting machines technology, such as those from Santoni. What started as a way to manufacture comfortable under garments, these machines are now opening new markets, such as sportswear, outerwear and medical products.
