Our Standards
Through independent authorised laboratories we rigorously test wool and care products to ensure they meet the Woolmark Specifications. These are our core test areas:
Test 1
WOOL CONTENT
We assess the fibre content, to verify that the ingredients of the product are what they claim to be.
Test 2
COLOURFASTNESS TO LIGHT
We expose this wool to the harshest light – for up to 10 hours – to assure its colours are lasting.
Test 3
DURABILITY
We subject this wool to extreme pressures – we push, pull and stretch it to its physical limits – to measure its strength.
Test 4
LAUNDRY TESTING
We wash this wool in hard, unforgiving machines to ensure no shrinkage and no loss of shape.
Test 5
COLOURFASTNESS TO LIQUID
And we take this wool and test it, intensely, against the very liquids it would normally meet over its lifetime.

What products can be Woolmark-certified?
The Woolmark Certification Program tests and provides assurance of the quality of wool apparel, wool yarn and fabric, wool care product and wool processing technology.
Recycled Wool
Recycled Wool
A certification scheme for recycled wool products made from pre-consumer or post-consumer wool waste that has been reclaimed and reprocessed into yarn, knitted or woven fabric, apparel or footwear. Recycled Wool is a sub-branding to the Woolmark logo suite, indicating that a product is made of either 100% recycled wool or a wool blend that contains at least 20% recycled wool.

We ensure that wool garments and products are cared for properly with our wool care product certification program. We certify quality wool care product within each product sector including washing machines, tumble dryers, electric irons, detergents, conditioners, softeners and bleach, and professional wet-cleaning systems.
